Biography:

Laurence Malt is a writer, playwright and film-maker .

He currently lives with his wife and two children.

He was born in Norfolk and, although he now lives in Somerset, the spirit and characters of Norfolk still emerge frequently in his works.

The stories in the short story collection As Autumn Clouds are based in Norfolk but the themes are universal.

The title suggests transience and each story represents a chunk of a life or of a pivotal moment in a long forming connection.

Although the stories are short, the images last and suggest that although such moments are brief, they can stay forever.

Laurence Malt has also written a short novel called The Gesture.

The Gesture is about five different people and the same ten minutes that they all share.

All five characters witness the same gesture but they all see something different.

The Gesture is about the small things we notice and the big things we miss and how one five second gesture can mean so many different things to different people.
