Formed in 2006 in Plymouth, Devon, Arthur Walker create epic, punchy, glass-infused songs to capture imaginations and rupture dreams. A piece of each band member is actually encapsulated in every song.
Live, the band are recognised for their individual style, drawing crowds to their raw and energetic live performances.
With sell-out gigs for their 2 E.P launches and some excellent reviews from press and radio, (see below) this has only helped to increase the audience of this popular South-West band.
Their debut album signed to dBs Music and due for release in October 2009, things are really looking bright for the band, you can see and hear more from them by visiting their myspace page at : www.myspace.com/arthurwalker
“One of the most exhilarating and dynamic bands to come out of Devon in recent years, Arthur Walker deserve your full attention. This Plymouth based alt-rock quartet are a real force to be reckoned with on stage and they have got a CD that is nothing short of brilliant to back it up.” The Fly.
“Can you imagine what ['I am a Skull and I am Evil'] would be like live, in a venue, if you were just standing at the front when they put on a performance like that! Arthur Walker are a fantastic combo from Plymouth, with a winning line in angular Pixies-esque pop.” Tom Robinson Introducing, BBC 6Music.
…My Headphone Attracts is all spastic groove and nu-wave energy, while the equally jittery ‘Extinguisher Glue’ never loses sight of its melodic nucleus. Title track, ‘I Am A Skull And I Am Evil’, weaves a memorably flash chorus into the fray and climaxes with all the vim and vigour of a bona fide, rock’n’roll anthem. All told, another sure-fire winner from a band who are truly going places.” 24-7 Magazine.
“Plymouth’s finest math-rock roustabouts, as angular as a bag of set-squares” The Herald Newspaper.
“The winners of this month’s Best Newcomers Award are ARTHUR WALKER whose disjointed new-wavery stuffed with lofty yet warm melodies made for the kind of band that music mags pour over in their ‘Ones To Watch’ sections. Ones to watch, then.” 24-7 Magazine.
