Rosie Ribbons
Rosie Ribbons is a singer/songwriter born in Australia and brought up in Wales.
In 2001 Rosie left her rural settings and travelled to London for an audition that would bring her vocal and writing talents to the attention of the nation
and industry alike, in the first series of ‘Pop Idol’. After a moving rendition of Mariah Carey’s ‘Hero’ and herself penned song ‘Colors’, Pete Waterman, a judge on the show was infamously moved to tears. After months of auditions Rosie secured a spot in the final ten alongside household names such as Will Young and Gareth Gates. Rosie left the show in sixth place; having gained significant industry interest she secured a management and record deal with ‘Telstar’. Her singles ‘Blink’ and ‘A little bit’, a sassy mix of ‘RnB’ and catchy pop, proved a success with her fans and achieved top twenty statuses in the UK singles chart.
Having toured the country with ‘Pop Idol’, she was invited to support boy band ‘Blue’ on their stadium tour and again with the popular ‘Liberty X’. Early
2003 proved to be a difficult time as her record company ‘Telstar’ ceased to trade and her co written album ‘Misbehaving’ failed to make it on to the shelves. After this time Rosie decided to travel and found herself in Australia where she developed as an artist through her life experiences. She states, ‘after working on pop idol and putting so much effort into my debut album which was not released, I felt I needed time away to hone my skills as an artist, and the experience I gained in Australia was invaluable’.
Staying true to her writing skills she continued with her studio work and on her return to Wales in 2008, had a basis of material she felt ready to develop.
Working with various producers and song writers from across the country, Rosie has lent her writing and singing skills to artist ‘Alonestar’ (recent winner of two EMA awards) and producers such as Dominique Daniel (just like dis). Dominique’s track ‘Laws of Attraction’ was a particular favourite , a catchy, up-lifting dance track with a clever melody, it was an obvious song choice for her album.
Fusing ‘Dance’ and ‘RnB’ Rosie’s new sound is both current and mature. ‘Broken’, another track from her album is a modern day story of love lost, a song which showcases her vocal ability beautifully, punctuated with catchy guitar riffs and clever melody. ‘So Weak’ has an angelic quality with haunting lyrics that encapsulates a very personal time in her life.
Rosie divides her time as a devoted mother to her two year old son Toby, and performing with live bands such as ‘Amber Avenue’ in South Wales whilst writing new material for herself and other artists. A consummate performer, Rosie has successfully cemented her reputation as a talented vocalist and song writer amongst her peers.
….. ‘’I had the pleasure to work with Rosie on my album ‘Isophase Light’ and can honestly say her singing and song writing blew me away! A great artist and I look forward to working with her again soon on my next album and up and coming UK tour’’. Alonestar
