Soviet Science add colour to World Cup Coverage
with the soundtrack “Rainbow Nation”

Soviet Science synths wizard, Scuta Salamanca, has written and produced “Rainbow Nation”, the music currently being heard on all BBC TV and radio World Cup coverage.

A blend of Scuta’s own prog/pop sound and a sample from a traditional South African song, the track is a mash-up of two cultures that captures the spirit and excitement of this year’s World Cup. With drums and synths provided by Scuta’s band, The Dallas Guild, the talents of the London South African Singers were also called upon for the vocal, which was recorded at Konk Studios, owned by legendary Kinks front-man Ray Davies, and mixed at Soviet Science’s studios.

Scuta added, “It was amazing to get the chance to work with a traditional South African choir and make a track that’s such a hybrid of different styles”

To coincide with the launch of the tournament, “Rainbow Nation” will be available to download from  iTunes on Friday, June 11th, through BBC Music/Soviet Science as a Soviet Science Mix.

Tracks from The Dallas Guild’s debut album “Hello Darkness” will be available throughout 2010 ahead of its scheduled summer release on Soviet Science Records.
