Matt Dean
Matt Dean is a musical prodigy whose incredible four-octave range, smooth styling and surprising versatility have captured many an audience’s attention and praise.
Matt has performed at the Olympics in front of thousands. Sung for members of the Royal Family on several occasions. Performed with Jazz greats Guido Basso and Rob McConnell, rock legend David Wilcox, folk star Murray Mclaughlin and opened for the Nylons and even the incomparable Linda Ronstadt. Matt has even received standing ovations for his National Anthem performances at sporting events.
Matt worked with producer Marcus Kane (Snow, Maestro, Glenn Lewis, Joey Boy, Shania Twain) on his hit single “Thank God It’s Friday!” – a catchy pop song topped with an engaging hook highlighting that ‘Friday feeling’; an excitement that everyone can relate to. “Thank God It’s Friday” received airplay all around the world with heavy rotation the Britain, Scotland, Ireland, India, Australia, Canada and the U.S. on Internet stations and radio stations alike. The hilarity of the accompanying animated video gained a great deal of attention in the dance clubs in the UK and in North America on Much Music and BPM TV.
When Matt’s focus turned to song writing, he found a wealth of creativity and expression that he had not yet explored. His second CD, Shades Of Gray embodied Matt’s talents and experience. All songs were written, arranged, produced and recorded in his studio – ‘Dean Acres’ and mixed at Phase One, Toronto’s premier studio. Except for the choir and a few guitar tracks, Matt performed all vocals, instruments & solos.
Matt’s latest single, “Turn The Lights On”, .a straight up Pop dance hit that will have people in the clubs screaming “Deejay turn the lights on!”, will be released July 2010 in the States, Canada and Europe.
As a youngster, Matt taught himself 13 different instruments before the age of 17. His versatility as a vocalist,keyboardist, trombonist and percussionist had won him many honors, including awards from the National Association of Jazz Educators in the U.S., 3 times being chosen as one of the best musicians in Canada at ages 15, 17 and 20, playing everything from Jazz, R&B, Pop, Rock and even classical.
Matt received a degree in music with a President’s Letter for achieving the highest grade in, not only in the program, but the entire college, along with receiving a special scholarship created solely for him to acknowledge his accomplishments .
He has enjoyed many accomplishments but Matt feels he has just recently started to walk his own path, and he’s picking up speed. Whatever is around the corner for this talented singer/songwriter/producer, it will be greeted with an open heart and embraced with the passion that permeates everything he does.
