Biography
Songwriter Garth Adam is no newcomer to the DIY music scene with his sixth solo release Hope, Love, Betrayal, Despair. Like the title this EP is a mixture of moods from the billowy romantic “The Distance” to the edgy frustrated sound of “Wish”.
Garth’s music is a mixture of his influences and life. Born in the UK, a child in Africa and Fiji until finally settling in Australia where he worked his way as a bass player through a variety of Australian bands from Adelaide on to Melbourne and finally to Sydney. After a career of being a sideman, he began a solo career in 2002 with the release of the album Great Ocean Road. Another album and three EP’s all getting a generous amount of airplay on indie radio and Internet radio, particularly in the UK, followed this first outing.

The songs are melodic and rhythmically driven as you might imagine after a lifetime on the bass. Not too lo-fi so that you wonder if your stereo or ipod battery is trashed yet not too over polished to make your teeth ache. Place the Foo Fighters, Crowded House and Damien Rice in a blender and you will get and idea of the range of styles on each of the releases.
The new EP was recorded at Linear Recording in Sydney and produced by Melvin Tree. Mastering was by Kathy Naunton at Db Mastering Camperdown Sydney.
