This Devastated Fan
Often throughout music history family ties have proved to be a recipe for success, with obvious examples of the Gallaghers and the Davies’. This Devastated Fan’s family ties lie with Singer Guitarist Robbie Cavanagh and his brother, Jamie, on Drums. The pair were joined in 2006 by Dean Nickson on Bass, and the line up completed in 2008 when Ed Poole become a fully fledged member, replacing outgoing guitarist Ian Taylor.
With new line up cemented in place, TDF were able to focus on what really made them tick, all four members driven by the same passion for music, all wanting to take the music the same way. This led to the recording of 2008’s “This is for the Actors”, an album of songs written by Robbie and interpreted beautifully by TDF. “This is for the Actors” proved that TDF had now found their voice, moving on from debut release “Victoria’s Waiting”, allowing the band to express themselves to the full with raw melodic guitars, emotional lyrics and driving backbeats.
On the back of this release, TDF started to branch out into Europe, with successful tours of Italy, Switzerland and the Czech Republic, as well as shows across the UK. The Albums strong vocal performance drew comparisons to Placebo, while the energy and power meant Led Zeppelin and Pearl Jam references soon followed. The Band backed up these comments with eye-catching live shows, proving that they are no manufactured band, TDF are real, and are about to prove it to you.
